This issue seems a non-issue. Size does matter with nuclear reactors, ships, other types of power plants, cranes, you name it. The bigger the better the efficiency. But where big can’t go, smaller but less efficient is the ticket. Small reactors have a significant First of a Kind (FOAK) barrier to clear, but some players think it’s worth the risk to go first. That is not a choice between choosing a large rector or a small reactor, it’s an acknowledgement that it’s time to hedge a little and bet on a new technology. Regardless of our debates from the peanut gallery, the market moves forward, and we should all applaud and enjoy the show.
